A says: \(-12 = y \cdot 3\) That has to mean that: \(-12 \cdot n = y \cdot 3 \cdot n\) But it doesn't look like that because -12 is being divided and not multiplied.
C says: \(-12 = y \div 3\) That has to mean that: \(-12 \cdot n = y \div 3 \cdot n\) It also states that: \(-12 \cdot 3 = y \div 3 \cdot 3\), so it is correct.
