Find the partial derivatives of n=0.04(T/P) when P=40 and T=600

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To clarify, you want dn/dt and dn/dp?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

n = 0.04TP^-1 dn/dt = 0.04P^-1 At P=40, dn/dt = 0.001 dn/dp = -0.04TP^-2 At P=40, T=600, dn/dp = -0.015

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is very basic differentiation, I think you need to speak to your teacher if you don't know how to do this. With partial derivatives, you treat any other variables as constants so in dn/dt we treat p as a constant and vice versa with dn/dp. As 0.04P^-1 is constant, the partial derivative with respect to t is simply the constant which in this case is 0.04P^-1.
