*MEDAL* I need help with a problem about discriminates. it is attached below!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

x^2 - 2x - 35 is the same as 1x^2 + (-2x) + (-35) notice how 1x^2 + (-2x) + (-35) is in the form ax^2 + bx + c what are the values of a,b & c ?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

The discriminant of a quadratic is the value of \(b^2-4ac\). Use the information @jim_thompson5910 provided to find the discriminant. also, the value of the discriminate can indicate things about the roots of a quadratic.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, so the value of a is 1, b is -2, and c is -35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would I put it as -2x^2-4(1)(-35)?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

D is the discriminant |dw:1416190469352:dw|
