Which of the following is a product formed when Ag2O decomposes? Ag2 O O2 AgO
@sreekar369
2ag20-->4ag +02
@sleepyjess
How do you get that?
after decomposes it shuld spilts into ag and 02 and for geting i had balanced the equation
@sleepyjess
It is the decomposition "formula"
When something decomposes, it is usually into it's "parent elements"
So silver oxide would become silver and oxygen
And then you would write it out and make sure to balance it
@PRAETORIAN.10
good morning sunshine
maybe i should go back to sleep
ok..........
almost 80, well done, not bad for a blond
what?
have a good day kiddo
its night.....
and my day was horrible
@Abhisar
I don't really get what they said above, I would think it would be \(\bf Ag_2\) and O....
When you heat the metal oxide, it'll give you the metal itself and oxygen. Metal atoms are held by metallic bond. Whenever it's "of its own", you just write the symbol. E.G.: Magnesium --> Mg Sodium --> Na For oxygen atom to be stable, it needs to form covalent bonds with the same kind of atom. E.G. O itself is not stable (since the outermost shell has only 6 electrons), it needs to form covalent bond with another O atom, with 2 pairs of shared electrons. Hence you'll have \(O_2\) My advice is you'd better revise the basic chemistry, like the structures, before you go on and do such questions.
