help plzzzzzzz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one is in slope-intercept form: y = mx + b Where 'm' is the slope. So what's the slope of y = 1.2x + 0.4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Justdoitfor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = mx + b 'm' is slope y = 1.2x + 0.4 So 1.2 is the slope here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now for the 2nd one we have to find the slope. We can plug the two points they gave into the slope formula: \(m = \dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\) \(m = \dfrac{10-4}{8-3}\) What's 10 - 4? @Justdoitfor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it will be 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, now subtract 8 - 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, so we have: \(m = \dfrac{6}{5}\) Can you divide 6 / 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes 1.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so the slopes for both of them are 1.2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thxs so much:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm can help me with some more plz?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one is y = 1.2x + 0.4, and the y-intercept here is 0.4, because it's in the form of y = mx + b, where 'b' is the slope. Now we can plug the slope in the 2nd item with one of the points into point-slope form. \(y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)\) Where \(y_1\) is the y-value of the point, \(x_1\) is the x-value of the point, and \(m\) is the slope. So we have: \(y - 4 = 1.2(x - 3)\) Distribute 1.2 into the parenthesis: \(y - 4 = 1.2x - 3.6\) Add 4 to both sides, what's -3.6 + 4?
