When Spheres-R-Us ships bags of golf balls, each bag must be within 5 balls of 360. Which equation is an absolute value equation representing the high and low values, and what are those values? A. |360-m| = 5, 5; 10 B. |m-5| = 360; 355, 365 C. |360-5| = m; 5, 10 D. |m-360| = 5; 355, 365
@ganeshie8
Let "m" be the number of balls in a bag. The difference between "m" and 360 would be |m-360| yes ?
yes
you want this error (difference) to be less than 5, so the equation representing highest and lowest values for "m" would be \[|m-360| = 5\]
solving that should give you \(m = 355,~ 365\) you don't have them options.. .looks there is some typo in the options. .
woops my bad. let me edit the question.
I think I'm confused with the wording of the question.
I mean How does "within 5 balls of 360" mean |m-360| = 5
also how does solving get 335, 365? I'm trying to understand this. :p
oh. i understand why solving gets 355, 365.
just the translating part is weird.
well thanks i guess
