Hi, Can someone help me with Algebra question? An equation was created for the line of best fit from actual enrollment data. It was used to predict the dance studio enrollment values shown in the table below: Enrollment Month January February March April May June Actual 12 14 14 13 16 14 Predicted 8 15 15 12 17 15 Residual 4 −1 −1 1 −1 −1 Analyze the data. Determine whether the equation that produced the predicted values represents a good line of best fit.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how does your material cover this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean? I don't understand your question.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you are taking a course i assume, it has material that covers the contents of that course ... when you read the material, how did it present a solution process.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im just not sure how your course defines "a good line of best fit"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well for this particular question I looked back in my chapters lesson on analyzing data and I couldn't find a question particularly worded like this. Thats why Im confused. Im not exactly sure how to answer this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can give you the answer choices?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

answer choices might be helpful ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

as far as residual analysis goes ... this is a fairly good link http://stattrek.com/regression/residual-analysis.aspx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. No, the equation is not a good fit because the sum of the residuals is a large number. B. No, the equation is not a good fit because the residuals are all far from zero. C. Yes, the equation is a good fit because the residuals are all far from zero. D. Yes, the equation is a good fit because the sum of the residuals is a small number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry I had to type all of them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its A. But Im not positive

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the sum of the residuals is 1, and the mean is 1/6 B is of no consequence to me, and C is just a rewording of B so I would say it is between A and D, all depends on how the material you have defines "large/small number"

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how "good" of a best fit it is? ... i dont think i have ever covered that tho. which is why i defered to your material for more context

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think Im going to go with A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thankyou for your help

OpenStudy (amistre64):

my best guess would be A as well, but i just cant verify it
