OpenStudy (zmudz):

If all the roots of \(x^3 - 12x^2 + ax - 64\) are real and non-negative roots, find \(a\).

OpenStudy (loser66):

if a = 16 then, \(x^3 -12x^2 +48x -64 = (x-4)^3\) has 4 is real and non-negative.

OpenStudy (zmudz):

@Loser66 a=16 is not the answer :(

OpenStudy (loser66):

what is the answer?

OpenStudy (freckles):

@Loser66 might have typed a=16 but he meant a=48 because that is what he used above

OpenStudy (loser66):

oh, yeah, thanks @freckles

OpenStudy (zmudz):

ah, i see, thanks! @freckles and @Loser66 that makes more sense! this was very helpful
