OpenStudy (chris215):

Describe the transformations required to obtain the graph of the function f(x) from the graph of the function g(x). f(x) = 4 cos x; g(x) = cos x

OpenStudy (chris215):

vertical stretch by a factor of 4?

OpenStudy (chris215):

wait no horizontal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it would be. The range would be from [-1,1] to [-4,4] Therefore it stretched vertically from a factor of 4.

OpenStudy (chris215):

oh ok lol thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It cant be horizontal because only the y coordinate are increasing. If it was cos(x-pi/2) from cos(x), then it would have a horizontal or compressional factor.
