OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

Can someone pls Describe the role of plants in the water and carbon cycles.

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

@Rushwr

rvc (rvc):

its a big topic as per my knowledge

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

oh can u explain it in a simple way like maybe two sentences, so i can understand sorry if i'm asking too much

rvc (rvc):

@Rushwr will explain it i believe

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Hey how was ur Christmas so far ! SO sorry I was having a pillow fight with my brother ~

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

r u talking too me ?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

I see that u are very determined ! ahahahhaha @rvc I'll see if I can and sorry for late reply @safyousuff97

OpenStudy (rushwr):

yep talking to u @safyousuff97

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

oh ok i don't celebrate christmas but how was yours? hope you had a great christmas :)

OpenStudy (rushwr):

It was fine ! Even though I'm a Buddhist the neighborhood is full of Christians so that leads us to celebrate it too @

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

thats cool :)

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Yeah it is ! Okai let's get back to the topic !

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

yep sorry

OpenStudy (rushwr):

I'll just describe the whole carbon cycle take the points that u need

OpenStudy (rushwr):

The main reservoir for Carbon is the atmosphere. Plants obtain carbon in the form of Carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. They synthesize Carbohydrates , proteins , lipids and nucleic acids using this CO2 Due to the feeding relationships these organic compounds enter the system of animals. During respiration CO2 is releases to the environment. From the dead bodes of animals and plants and excretory products of animals the organic ,material is releases to the soil The micro organisms in the soil decompose these organic material and release CO2 to the atmosphere.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Under special circumstances , decomposition will not occur and the organic material will be converted to peat, coal and petroleum. Burning these fossil fuels in factories and automobiles will release CO2 to the atmosphere. The cycling of carbon occurs in the aquatic environment as well. CO2 dissolved in the water is used by the aquatic plants and phytoplanktons for photosynthesis. Organic compound are formed and they are transferred through food chains in to aquatic animals . When all these organisms die the bodies are decomposed and CO2 is released to the water.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

In the ocean CO2 dissolves in the water forming a mild acid, This combines with calcium ions in the sea water to form CaCO3( Calcium bi carbonate ) which deposits as sediments. Coral polyps and molluscs precipitate carbon as CaCO3 when they form the exo skeleton They also form sediments after the death of those organisms . During volcanic eruptions CO2 is released from these CaCO3 deposits in to the environment !

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

thank u so much :)

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Importance of plants in carbon cycle Plants play a major role in the carbon cycle by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and photosynthesis. So that's why deforestation leads to a reduction of CO2 being absorbed for photosynthesis. Thus the balance of CO2 and O2 in the atmosphere is changes too.

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

thank u this is very helpful

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Importance of plants in water cycle Plants absorbs water from the surface and the deeper layer of the soil. A part of it is returned to the atmosphere in the form of vapor during transpiration .

OpenStudy (rushwr):

I guess that's it ! Phew ! It took me tym nah ?

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

so sorry for taking you time :( it was very helpful tho

OpenStudy (rushwr):

No it doesn't matter abwt my tym if u got it done by ur time limit ! anything else that u need help with ?

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

not at the moment

OpenStudy (rushwr):

ohkai then have fun

OpenStudy (safyousuff97):

you too bye :)

OpenStudy (rushwr):

hahaha bye bye
