Which correctly summarizes the trend in electron affinity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this an open question or does it have options to choose from?

@Jacobrstevens01

OpenStudy (tatianagomezb):

It increases from bottom to top in a group and from left to right in a period

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The electron affinity of the elements generally increases across a period and sometimes decreases down a group in the periodic table. The electron affinity of an atom or molecule is the propensity for the particle to gain an electron. That would be an exothermic process for all non-noble gas elements. Hope this helps or @tatianagomezb 's answer helps. I did see an open question and opotion question of this question that you were asking. @Jacobrstevens01
