OpenStudy (sammyalabamy):

If 32.3 grams of KCl are dissolved in 192 grams of water, what is the concentration of the solution in percent by mass? Select one: a. 5.94% KCl b. 8.55% KCl c. 14.4% KCl d. 16.8% KCl

OpenStudy (photon336):

strange question. usually they ask for concentration in moles/liter. I think this would help you figure it out. \[\frac{ mass~of~solute }{ mass~of~solution } = \frac{ mass_{KCL} }{ Mass_{Water}+Mass_{KCL} }*100\]

OpenStudy (sammyalabamy):

thanks

OpenStudy (photon336):

let me know how it goes

OpenStudy (sammyalabamy):

thanks, that actually helped more than anything else I tried...

OpenStudy (photon336):

what did you have before?

OpenStudy (sammyalabamy):

somewhere around 16 or 17

OpenStudy (photon336):

I'm assuming that wasn't it right?

OpenStudy (sammyalabamy):

absolutely not.
