volume of the pyramid = (1/3) * area of base * height = (1/3)Ah = 31
Volume of the prism = Ah
(1/3) Ah = 31
can you find the value of Ah?
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
15
OpenStudy (welshfella):
just multiply both sides of the equation by 3 and you have it.
OpenStudy (welshfella):
Not 15

multiply what
OpenStudy (welshfella):
(1/3)*3Ah = 31*3
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
93
OpenStudy (welshfella):
right
volume of prism = Ah = 93
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
46

???
no the required volume = Ah = 93 mm3
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
i multiplied and got 279
OpenStudy (welshfella):
thats what the question asks for - volume of the prism
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
what
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
you arent explaing it well

I dont think you are reading it well
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
did i do it right 279 is good
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
or no
OpenStudy (welshfella):
as i've said already
The volume of the prism = Ah (area * height)
the volume of the triangular pyramid = (1/3) Ah
and its volume is given as 31 mm3
So (1/3) Ah = 31
now to get the value of Ah ( the volume of the prism) you multiply both sides of the equation by 3 which gives you
Ah = 31*3
OpenStudy (welshfella):
I can't be clearer than that.

93
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
so the answer would be 31 times 9 wich gives me 93 right
OpenStudy (welshfella):
31 * 3 = 93mm3
OpenStudy (jgkg13):
thats the answer to my problem
OpenStudy (welshfella):
yes
