The main salt components of sea water include Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Cl-, SO4^2-, HCO3-, Br-, and F-. The addition of which solution would cause precipitation to occur more easily in sea water than in tap water? A. LiOH B. HI C. AgNO3 D. (NH4)2SO4

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Its asking you to identify which of these could form insoluble compounds. You can use a solubility table, http://periodic-table-of-elements.org/SOLUBILITY but there are some general rules. Nitrates, \(NO_3^-\), and sulfates \(SO_4^{2-}\)are always soluble, some hydroxides aren't like \(Mg(OH)_2\), it will precipitate. So i would say A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a fancy periodic table. Thank you! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant solubility table lol

OpenStudy (aaronq):

it is! no problem :)
