We have an aquarium which is divided into two halves each having a fish. The first half is filled with a liquid of refractive index 6/5.the other half of refractive index 4/3.The two halves are joined together by a curved surface of refractive index 3/2 and radius of curvature 30cm.Both the fishes are at a distance of 6cm from the curved surface. Find the apparent position of fish in the part having refractive index (4/3) as seen by other fish.
I m getting ans as 11.29 cm. @ganeshie8
The thin curved glass sheet has two surfaces.(pls don't consider a single surface for that).
Use the formula of refraction at spherical surface twice..
I did that only and got this ans 11.29 . Bt the ans is diff. The ans they hve given is 5.29 which i got for an observer in the part having refractive index 6/5 (very close to the curved surface) and not for the fish which is 6cm away from the curved sheet.
The curve surface is concave or convex ...
Concave to the observer and convex to the object.
When i say observer it is nothing but the fish in part of refractive index 4/3. And similarly u can judge for the other half.
I hate calculation
