A pair of equations is shown below: y = 7x − 8 y = 5x − 2 Part A: Explain how you will solve the pair of equations by substitution or elimination. Show all the steps and write the solution. Part B: If the two equations are graphed, at what point will the lines representing the two equations intersect? Explain your answer.

In substitution you will use one equation to substitute into the other equation so for instance y=7x-8 so substituting into the other equation you get 7x-8=5x-2 For elimination the setup is to arrange an equation so when you add or subtract the result is that one variable drops out, so for instance you could subtract the second equation from the first yielding 0=2x-6
