I need help with this biology assignment about mutations.
Could you screenshot the assignment please.
I will be back in.... umm, 40 minutes with the steps and the help you need. This will take a long time. I might not be able to do it, but I'll try.
Ok, thanks.
● Describe how mutations lead to genetic variations. You can think about it. If one individual in a population gets a mutation, and mates and that particular gene spreads, there would be a new gene in the population. You can elaborate on this. ● Which appears to be more dangerous: the BRC1 or BRC2 mutation? Analyze the data and determine which gene has a more fatal outcome (i.e., more deaths, more procedures required, etc.) ● Analyze a woman’s risk of dying of cancer if she carries a mutated BRC1 gene. Do deaths/diagnosis (percent died) and discuss which one is greater. You could also look at the graph and analyze at what age range(s) are the risks greater. ● How do heredity and inheritance relate to the data presented in these charts? "All of the women in the study had a family history of breast cancer." Should offer a lot of insight as to how you should frame your response. ● What data would you need to see in order to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of preventive surgeries? After approval from IRB, you could do a simple random sample or a cluster study of diagnosed individuals and have some undergo the surgery and some who don't. Then after obtaining results after the surgery, perform a test to evaluate whether the surgery is more effective thannot. ● What does the age at diagnosis tell you about the mutation? Look at the graph. ● Explain how breast-cancer genes are still present in the population, despite cancer-related surgeries and deaths. Breast-cancer can be passed along generations, meaning that it could and is being spread in populations. You could elaborate.
