f(x)=5x-7
What exactly is required?
If you're solving for \(x\) then you would have to flip the equation so that the minus `(-)` is at the start and the equal sign ( `=` ) is at the end So when you flip the equation , \(y=5x−7\) turns into \(5x−7=y\)
Then the second thing you do is get `-7` and change the minus `(–)` to a to a plus `(+)` So then you would have `+7` now So then you \(+7\) to both sides of the equation; we had \(5x−7=y\) So adding 7 to both sides of the equation would look like this \(5x−7+7=y+7\) which equals \(5x=y+7\)
Then, we have to \( \div 5\) to both sides of the equation We had \(5x=y+7\) now we have,,, \(\LARGE\frac{5x}{5}=\frac{y+7}{5}\) So \(\frac{5x}{5}\) cancels; \(\cancel{\frac{5x}{5}}\) So \(\cancel{\frac{5x}{5}}=\frac{y+7}{5}\) So \(x=\frac{1}{5}y+\frac{?}{?}\)
