Luigi0210:

There are many similarities when it comes to legal/illegal stimulants, one such being their effects on the body. Both types of stimulants have a psychoactive effect on the nervous system, thus effecting mood/behavior and cognition. Both kinds have the potential to cause some degree of dependence and addiction with long enough use. Though the severity and type may vary, both kinds of stimulants could lead to health risks. Some key differences between the two are their availability. Legal stimulants are widely available for purchase, while illegal stimulants are prohibit or require some kind of prescription. Legal stims have some kind of regulation and quality control. Illegal stims are not regulated, thus their quality/pureness is also unknown. Illegal stimulants have some legitimate medical use when prescribed, while legal stims are mainly used for their stimulating effects.

Luigi0210:

Oops, my bad. When it comes to making legal stims illegal, that will present significant challenges. They are already deeply integrated into today's society. and are consumed on the daily by basically everyone. And going off history, aka prohibition, it would be ineffective. The possibility for illicit markets and crime related to these stimulants would likely increase.

Luigi0210:

When it comes to making illegal stims legal, well that would also be troublesome. Some like marijuana aren't as potent as others such as amphetamines or narcotics. They have a high potential for abuse and causing serious health problems. If they were to be legalized, it would have to be with very strict regulations in order to help reduce the rate of abuse, addiction and other societal problems.
