how bad does getting your tonsils removed hurt?
@bubblezz
Common issues after a tonsillectomy include the following: Moderate to severe pain in the throat for one to two weeks. Pain in the ears, neck or jaw. Nausea and vomiting for a few days. The surgeon may cut out the tonsils using a blade (scalpel) or a specialized surgical tool that uses heat or high-energy heat or sound waves to remove or destroy tissues and stop bleeding.
It is often described by patients as comparable to the pain that accompanies an acute tonsillitis. Although recurrent tonsillitis is the most frequent indication for surgery, many tonsillectomies are performed due to other indications and these patients may be unfamiliar with such pain.

As a person who had to have their tonsils removed it really depends on the person. For some people, it doesn't really affect them at all and for others, it hurts a little more. For me I know I couldn't really eat anything too hot or hard to chew until about 5 days or so after the process. I mostly stuck to ice cream, soups, and other things like that. Most of the time you'd also have to expect your voice to be raspy and it to hurt a little when you talk. At least that was my experience.
