Here's what you do:

Step one - Your formula for this equation will be g = 12 x 1/4

Step two - You multiply 12 x 1/4. How you do this is you multiply straight across 12/1 x 1/4. 12 x 1 = 12 and 1 x 4 = 4.

Step three -  Divide. Now all you do is divide 12/4, which gives you three.

Therefore, g = 3.
