OpenStudy (tim):

yo meissler!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yo. started this thread by accident. oh well.

OpenStudy (tim):

Haha, where are you from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from Philly, living in SF now. What about you?

OpenStudy (tim):

Oh nice. Philly, good place. I'm in Atlanta. You working out in SF? The valley?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm working in SF.. medical research. pellet sucks though. Tryin to learn how to code cause I feel like it could potentially open some doors

OpenStudy (tim):

haha, yea no doubt. Learning programming could definitely help in SF. How's the course coming along? What's it missing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well I just started a couple days ago so I'm not sure if I can say yet. I haven't been watching the videos cause I feel that they're probably just a reiteration of what you read.

OpenStudy (tim):

right, yeah some of it is definitely a redundant. The problem sets is where you proof in the pudding comes out in my opinion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Things like this, where you give/get feedback from people are much more conducive to learning

OpenStudy (tim):

yeah for sure, have you seen the older version of OpenStudy. I think they are testing this new one out. The old version has like over 6K people in the study group...it is ridiculous. How do you like this though?

OpenStudy (tim):

this is the older one: http://openstudy.com/study-groups/MIT+6.0+Intro+Computer+Science+(OCW)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I saw it a couple months ago when I was gonna try the course, but I forget it. For some reason I feel like the old way was better though. This has too much of a twitter feel to it and it's not organized

OpenStudy (tim):

yeah, I feel ya. How would you organize it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Something more on the lines of a forum would be a whole lot nicer. Much more organized.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Problem set/exam sections, break things down by maybe lecture or topic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the number of repeated threads would be reduced too

OpenStudy (tim):

yeah the thing I like about this is that I know where you are and know what everyone is doing. Forums, you post something and hopefully "someone" see it.

OpenStudy (tim):

true

OpenStudy (tim):

I've written them a couple emails to have them put a schedule function on here.

OpenStudy (tim):

To help organize the people, not the content

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you work for them or you're just takin the class?

OpenStudy (tim):

I'm a Ga Tech student... but I know some of the interns and prof who started it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh nice

OpenStudy (tim):

yeah, did you go to undergrad in philly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, just graduated from Penn in the spring. Now I realized that a science major wasn't the way to go.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sucks because on paper it looks like I'm not qualified for much, ya know? While people had internships that make them qualified for a lot of positons, I was in a lab.

OpenStudy (tim):

not a bad uni thou :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true. Just wish I did something else when I was there cause my major isn't gonna help with anything.

OpenStudy (tim):

ah, f "it" the founder of Groupon was a damn music major...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha yea

OpenStudy (tim):

aight man, well good luck, gotta bounce

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright dude, later

OpenStudy (tim):
