substitution is really difficult to explain but elimination is very easy.
i.e when you have x+3y=4
x-3y=6 you cancel out the y's and keep the x's
but if its like x+9y=10
3x+9y=20 then u just add negative 1
(3x+9y=20)-1 multiply then add both equations, you add them together like -2x=-10 then divide
