first, you should graph this function, then, you can use the quadratic equation to solve for m
m is just a variable. It might be easier to replace m with x and then graph it on the xy plane
\[x = ( -b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4*a*c})/(2*a)\]
Whenever you see "<" or ">" you can treat it as an equal sign. After you get the graph down the < let's you know what part is shaded. (below or above the line) I'm getting m = 2 or m = -11/2
"a" is coeffecient on x^2, "b" is the coeffecient on x term, "c" is the term with no x ... => a*x^2 + b*x + c
