(-4,7);3x=2y+9 I am having a hard time figuring this out, i get to this point y-7=3/2(x-(-4)) and then i cannot figure the rest of it out.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

What are you trying to find?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am tying to solve for y but for some reason when ever i add the 7 to the other side my answer is not the right one and i cannot figure out what i am doing wrong.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Ok, gotcha.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

So let's see, we have: 3x = 2y + 9 Now, for point-slope form we'll plug in the point they give us, giving us: 3(x - (-4)) = 2(y - 7) + 9 3(x + 4) = 2(y - 7) + 9

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Then we can distribute the 3 and the 2: 3x + 3(4) = 2y - 2(7) + 9 3x + 12 = 2y - 14 + 9 Finally, we can combine like terms: 3x + 12 = 2y - 5

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Now, what do you get if you solve this equation for y?
