what kind of sentence if u do not go to work u might get fired compound or simple

OpenStudy (sid1729):

I assume the sentence is: "If you do not go to work, you might get fired." This is a compound sentence because it connects two simple sentences using "if"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i agree

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I disagree; http://www2.ivcc.edu/rambo/eng1001/sentences.htm Use of "if" means that one of the sentence clauses depends on the first half of the sentance (the independant part). What this is is a "Complex" sentence (see the link). An compound sentence can illustrated by joining two simple sentence by a coordinating conjunction. Eg: It is raining today, and my window is leaking.
