Imagine a person that went east 120 miles. Now, along the x axis, x=120 then. Then, take t for the hours the person spent to get to the 120 miles. The return trip, took t-3 hours. Then, take s as the speed the person used to get to 120 miles. The return trip was at 2s. However, we can relate the equations by setting them both equal to 120 because, s(t)=120 miles, while [s(t-3)]/2 = 120. Solve for s.
