On a standardized test with a normal distribution, the mean was 64.3 and the standard deviation was 5.4. what percentile is a 74?
(Going to leave the question above open for answers.)
you don't know how to solve this?
I don't remember the details of statistics, I'm afraid. It's 1.8 standard deviations away from the mean, which means it's between the 84th and 97th percentile or so.
Actually, sorry, I think that's about the 95th percentile.
don't i do the mean minus 4 standard deviation because percentile means go to the left?
Well, they're asking (I think), if you got a 74 on the test, what percentile is that. So 74 - 64.3 = 9.7 which is about 1.8 * 5.4, which means we're about 1.8 standard deviations away from the mean.
i believe its 64.3-4(5.4) and whatever that equals than plug that into the calculator in normal cdf?
i got 50th percentile does that sound right?
I'm... Not sure what math you're doing. Where does the 74 come into play?
i dont know ill look at my notes later for this one..cann you go back to the one with the x and the fractions please
