yes

I think I got confused because you said add 5a not -5a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[a+5=-5a+5\] \[a+5a=-5+5\] \[6a=0\] \[a=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. a+5=-5a+5 If you add 5a to both sides, you get 6a+5=5 (because -5a+5a on the right=0) Then subtract 5 from both sides and you end up with 6a=0. Divide by 6 and you have a=0, since 0 divided by a number is still 0.

ok, thank you very much
