a train A travel at constant speed of x, behind train A about 80 miles, there is a train B travel at constant speed of thats higher than train A. after 25 minutes train B crash from behind train A.. what is the train B speed before they crash?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You wrote that train A travels 80 miles behind train A? Is that a typo?

help!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i had post it later and fix data that i forgot to give

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do we know initially how fast A or B are going? Because I get an expression of A's speed in terms of B's. (A's speed is 192 mi/hr less than B's). lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

train A travel at constant speed of x, behind train A about 80 miles there is a train B, train B travel at constant speed thats higher than train A. after 25 minutes train B crash train A from behind, the crash is after train A travel 25miles.. what is the train B speed before they crash?

Oh. Ok, let me rework the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha ok, this problem is pretty whack. Kind of messed up if it happens in real life.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Train B must have travelled (80 + 25) miles to catch up to A. If it did that in 25 minutes, then it did that in (25/60) of an hour. If a train travels X miles in Y hours and if it travels at constant speed, then it’s speed is X/Y miles per hour. So divide 105 by (25/60) to get B’s speed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you mean the train B speed was 252mph and speed train A was 60mph... the answer is absolutely correct.... thank you verifry- student91 =) now i can sleep well =)

Haha. You're welcome
