so you do this by first finding m

the equation is m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

so just use the points you are given

m=(-5-(-3))/(-6-(-2)) = (-2)/(-4) = 1/2

so now solve for b using the equation and plugging in m and x and y

so use (-2, -3)

-3 = (1/2)(-2) + b
-3 = -1 + b
-2 = b

then now plug in m and b for the general equation

y = (1/2)x - 2
