5p+8>3(p+6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, like last time, you have to treat this like if you were solving for a normal equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried 2 do it by myselfbut i came up with 5p and -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok wait a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5p+8>3(p+6) 5p+8>3p +18 5p-3p+8>18 2p+8>18 2p>18-8 2p>10 p>10/5 p>2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me if you didnt get something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why did u take the 3p to the other side of the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2p>10 p>10/5 p>2 Instead of dividing by 5, you divide by 2...and the result is p>5. And you take 3P to the other side of the equation because you want to get the variables alone on one side of the inequality sign, and subtracting 3P is easier than subtracting 5P and getting a negative number.

aww man! sorry! i mentally knew the answer, i guess i accidentally slipped. thanks msmr. who knows where i got the from.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*who knows where i got the 5 from.
