Factor completely or state prime. 3x^3-36x^2+33x
divide all of these terms by x. what do you get?
3x^2-36x+33?
okay, and what do all of them have in common?
/ by 3
okay so now you get x^2-12x+11. however the three and the x dont just poof away, so now you have: 3x(x^2-12x+11)
3(x^2-12x+11)?
close, remeber the 3 we also divided? so its: 3x(x^2-12x+11)
but you can set the 3x aside for now, and just work with the x^2-12x+11
wouldnt that make it 3x(x-12+11) wouldnt the x's be took out then?
okay, your getting confued. we took the 3x out of this equation :3x^3-36x^2+33x
so that would make it 3x(x^2-12x+11)
ok
are you ok now?
I hope so I am mostly tryin to make sure I am getting these right for class. Help with ones like this one is a bonus. Thank You so much.
no problem, just ask. ok, so were NOT finished yet, lol
Nope lol
x^2-12x+11 what are multiples of 11?
1 and 11, right?
(x-1)(x-11)
then you multiply that out to see if you get x^2-12x+11. (x-1)(x-11) x^2-11x-x+11 x^2-12x+11' so it's right. now you finally add the 3x back final answer: 3x(x-1)(x-11)
