Use the commutative property of multiplication to rewrite the given expression. (w + 13)(–14)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Commutativity says that you can change the order of the two parts of multiplication without changing the result.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

In this case, the two parts are (w + 13) and (-14). The commutative property of multiplication tells you that which one comes first doesn't matter. Can you rewrite it based on that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(13+w)(-14) like that?

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Close. That's also valid, but you used the commutative property of addition there. You have to change the order of the multiplication, not the addition.
