a radiator contains 25 quarts of water and antifreeze solution of which 60 percent ..how much of this solution should be drained and replaced with water for the new solution to be 40 percent antifreeze?

60% of the original is water or antifreeze?

Ok, here are our facts: 1) 25 quarts in radiator and 60% is antifreeze now or = 25*.60 = 15 quarts are antifreeze 2) We want 40% or = 25*.40 = 10 quarts of antifreeze for our end result 3) So, we need to eliminate 5 quarts of antifreeze to get our answer 4) 5/.6 = 8 and 1/3 quarts I believe that is the answer, take out 8.3333 quarts and replace with water for desired amount
