y=x-5 how do you graph it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you make a table. You can come up with any #. You only need two points. X can equal 1 and then y will equal -4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you put the point on (0,5) because the -5 indicates you go down.if it were (x-5) you would go right 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well thats how i was taught.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you know how to make a two dimensional graph, you can think of y=x-5 as a line, with the slope (rise over run) of one, which intersects the Y axis at the point ( 0, -5 ). So if you plug some numbers in, like (1, -4) (2,-3) and (0, -5) put the points on your graph and take your ruler and draw a line through them, you should get a fairle accurate representation of the line y=x-5 Sorry to steal your thunder ebrooks.
