Does 3x^0 = (3x)^0 ? why or why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope, the first is 3*1 or just 3, while the second part is equal to 1 (anything to the 0 power is 1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and now I have to correct myself, as 0^0 ≠ 0. But any other value raised to the 0 power is 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats because 0^0 in an indeterminate form..... this identity only holds for rational numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would get the same answer for \[\infty^\infty\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is also an indeterminate

As soon as I hit "post" I thought to myself, dang it don't forget 0^0 :P
