if the length of a rectangle is x+1/x and the width is x+2/2 what is the perimeter of the rectangle?
if the length of a rectangle is (x+1/x) and the width is (x+2/2) what is the perimeter of the rectangle?
Perimeter of a rectangle = 2l+2w. Just multiply both expressions by two, and add them. That is the perimeter.
thats what i tried doing but i think im doing it wrong cuz i get a weird answer
What do you mean by weird answer? The result should be a function of x.
i get x=2 and x=-1
but a measurement cant be negative right?
Well, when you multiply the expressions, you should get Perimeter = 2(x+1/x)+2(x+2/2)
Also, 2/2 = 1, so simplify. I'm not sure whether you mean (x+2)/2 or x+2/2
its just x+2/2
That means you have to distribute the 2 into both functions, and add the result.
