Why is 1 called Multiplicative Identity? Explain the place of 1 and solve (-2x-3)-(x-7)

It didnt post me reply :( Try again... An Identity is like looking in the mirror; you get a reflection or image of yourself. The additive identity is "0": number + 0 = same number The multiplicative identity is "1": number times 1 = same number Does this make sense?
