Now you know more than one way to write a function. Explain the difference between working with y = 2x+4 and (f)x = 2x+4 . What are the advantages of each type of notation? Which would be preferred and why?

It primarily depends on the variables used in the function. Typically, it is understood that y is a function of x. Thus, it might seem redundant to write y(x)=2x+4. In a situation where the dependencies of a function are not understood, it is best to demonstrate them by specifically noting them in the function variable. For example, suppose that x is a function of another variable, t. In this case, I would write y(x(t))=2x+4, as t's dependency on x would otherwise be unknown. Hope this helps.
