what is the range for the following y=3/x+2? and why?

myininaya (myininaya):

Since it is one to one. you can find the inverse and find the domain of the inverse. The domain of the inverse is the range of y=3/x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my textbook says that the range can be anything except zero. i don't understand why?

myininaya (myininaya):

You are talking about the domain of this function. x cannot be zero because you cannot divide by 0. The domain of y is therefore (-inf,0) U (0,inf)

this is too complex for me to understand, i havenot learnt about infinity yet. i just want to know why the range can not be zero. an the domain can be zero , however it can not be negatvie 2 . becauause it will make the denominator zero. i just do not know why my textbook said i can not have y as zero

myininaya (myininaya):

i have to go I'm sorry but the domain of this function is (-inf,0)U(0,inf) and the range is (-inf,2)U(2,inf) and I found this because I found the inverse and the domain of the inverse is the range of y

myininaya (myininaya):

I requested some help for you hopefully someone will be in a second

ok , thankyou

i still do not get it, please answer
