"I'm in college taking a health and body composition class and we did a diet chart. After calculating the proteins, carbs, and fats, we had to find out what percent of the total came from the p/c/f. How do I calculate the percentages?

Example:
Proteins 104
Carbs 336
Fats 108 +
______________
548

Percents are a way of expressing fractions. The percent protein, for example, is\[\frac{104}{548} \times 100 percent=\approx 18.98 percent\]

To find out what your percent is on a quiz you would say I got 18 out 20 correct. So you would take 18/20 in your calculator and find that it says .9 which turning into a percent would be 90%

You take the number correct out of the total points.

So in this case you have to add up all of the grams or whatever this problem is in. This would be like the total points on a test. (20 in my example).

Then each of the p, c, f are like people in the class.

One person gets 104 out of 548

2nd person gets 336 out of 548

3rd person gets 108 out of 548

Change the decimals into percents.

I know that, but how do I type it in on a calculator? I have to do more than 50 problems like this tonight before bed.

For the protein one I did before, type 104, then press divide, then 548 then equals...then multiply that number by 100 to get it in percent.

It's going to depend on what type of calculator you have.
