When you subtract polynomials you should change the "-" sign that is in between the two polynomials to a "+" and then change the sign of every term in the second set of parentheses. ex. (-3x^2 + 11x + x^4) + (-x^2 - 14x + 9x^4)
Then you add like terms... you should always put the highest powered x first down to the lowest powered x.. so in this case You should add x^4 _ 9x^4 first and get 10x^4. Then add the x^2s so you get -3x^2 - x^2 = -4x^2 Then add the xs so you get 11x - 14x = -3x So your answer is 10x^4 - 4x^2 - 3x Do you understand?
