There it says: [°C] = ([°F] − 32) × 5⁄9 [°F] = [°C] × 9⁄5 + 32
What is it, you don't understand?

0 = 32 ; 100 = 212 these are our coordinates for a line that has a Celsius axis and a Farenheit axis:

(0,32) (100,212)

whats the slope of the line?

slope = (y1-y2)/(x1-x2)

slope = (212-32)/(100-0) = 180/100

reduce 180/100 = 18/10 = 9/5

So we have the slope of our line equal to: 9/5

We plug this and one of our coordinates into the equation for a line:

y = slope(x) + b
or

F = (9/5)C + 32


Since zero is an easy number to play with, lets choose (x=0,y=32)

32 = (9/5)(0) + b
32 = 0 + b

b = 32; now we have the formula for changeing Celsius into Farenheit:

F = (9/5)C + 32

We can manipultate this equation around to find its inverse, that is, the conversion of f:F->C.

(F - 32)(5)
--------- = C
(9)
