Can you make comparisons between Ahab and Dr. Frankenstein, regarding their single-minded goals and fervent desires?

Frankenstein was intent upon creating his monster, it was his lifetime pursuit...similarly Ahab desired the "white whale"

Yes and I think this is a strong point. However, there is a definite difference in the intentions of both men. Ahab is by profession a man of death while Dr Frankenstein by profession is a man of creation (could be argued though, as at the time of writing Frankenstein science was seen as a destructive force). You could also use that as a comparison.

Try taking a piece of paper and drawing a line down the middle. At the top of one column write "Dr Frankenstein," and at the top of the other write "Ahab."

Now you can start writing similarities between the two men. To get you started, here are some examples you can use: Both men created their monster (Frankenstein literally created it, Ahab figuratively created it by trying to hunt it and giving the white whale myth "life"), both men seek revenge from the creature they created, both men are willing to sacrifice everything to get vengeance (Frankenstein his work, his family, his life, Ahab his ship, crew and life), both men ultimately die in their pursuit.
