[x^-1*(y^-6*z^3)^3]/x^-8*y^-7*z^6

First thing is to take monomials to the power... You multiply exponents when you take a monomial to a power. (y^-6 * z^3)^3 = y^-18*z9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So on top you have x^-1 y^-18 z^9 On the bottome you have x^-8 y^-7 z^6 When you divide monomials - you subtract exponents x^(-1 - (-8)) y^(-18 - (-7)) z^(9 - 6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^(-1 + 8) y^(-18 + 7) z(9 - 6) x^(7) Y^(-9) z^(3) To get rid of a negative exponent you take it to the other side of the division line and it becomes a positive exponent. So (x^7 * z^3) / y^9 One fraction you don't need the parentheses in your answer

I hate exponents I always get confused on when to add subtract or multiply them. Thanks so much!

When you multiply you add When you divide you subtract When you take a power to a power you multiply. Good luck
