i got 2/9x-73/9
what's the question?
o crap that i thought i was replying sorry
but i do have a ?
what is it ^_^?
write an equation of the line containing the given point and parellel to the given line... (2,-5);9x-4y=7
Solve the given equation for 'y' and take the slop of that equation and the x & y values of the given point and insert them into the y=mx+b formula. Solve for b.
i get that i just know how to solve for b ..this is for an online course. im so frustrated.
We've already answered this question in your previous thread. I dunno why people keep making duplicate questions
okay first let's re-write the function in terms of y : y =( 7-9x)/-4 = 9x/4 -7/4 then find m (slope) since it's parallel then the slope won't change: m = 9/4 now you know the equation that we use to find the function right? : y - yo = m(x - xo) substitute the points and m and solve for y ^_^ , you'l get: y +5 = 9/4(x - 2) y = 9/4x -19/2 ^_^ that's it
no need to be frustrated, I'll give you a hint. When we have a parallel line then the slope never changes it'll stay the same, but when the line is perpendicular, then you must take the reciprocal of the slow ^_^
slope*
tarantino, did you understand it now ? :)
yes thank you
you are most welcome ^_^ good luck
that helped alot. i did nt just want an answer im glad someone actually explained it
glad you understood it :)
