ok to that same question about the denominators.... um the book im studying from gave me this example.... the lcd for 2/3 and 4/9 is 9 so the fractions can be expressed as 6/9 and 4/9! Where they get the 6 from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol when you multiply 3 to get the same denominator, you multiply it up and down so it's like this : 2x3/3x3 = 6/9 ^_^

it's a must! to multiply the upper and lower part with the same number :)

lol im so bad at math! i feel so out of the loop! i know this is a really simple question but i still dont get where the six come from with the numbers they gave

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope you're not, your just starting, and you'll get better :) with time ^_^ when you want to get the same denominator, you must multiply the upper part with that number and the lower part, for your example when you mulitply the denominator by 3 = 9 so u MUST multiply the upper part by 3 too and you'll get 6 ^_^ 2x 3 = 6 3 x3 = 9 so 2/3 (after multiplying both parts by 3 we get): 6/9 is it clear now ? :)
