Mr. Thomson's class is competing in the school field day. There are 16 boys and 12 girls n his class. He divided the class into the greatest number of teams possible with the same number of boys on each team and the same number of girls on each team. How many teams were mad if each person was on a team? How many girls were on each team? How many boys?

7 teams 3 girl teams of 4 plus 4 boy teams of 4 equals 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

16 = 4² 12 = 3⋅4 The least (and only) common factor is 4; to have the same number of boys & girls on each team, there must be 4 teams, each with 16/4=4 boys and 12/4=3 girls (7 total on each team).
