can anyone help with series/sequences

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SOMEBODY PLEASE IM DESPERATE I NEED HELP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alg 2 sequences can u help? what math/grade r u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ap cal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wow. can u do something like this? write the rule for each sequence. -1, 2, 7, 14, 23

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh with .... after it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

....???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need the sigma e sign first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i dont think so it just wants the rule

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the bottom of it should be -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first term is -1, first term = square one and subtract 2. (1)^2 -2 = -1 second term is 2 second term = square two and subtract 2. (2)^2 -2 = 2 third term is 7 third term = square three and subtract 2. (3)^2 - 2= 7 so it seems like (number of term)^2 -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait elouis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you know to do that though? did u just guess or something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my stuff wont send on chat ny ny

OpenStudy (ny,ny):

surfdude come to group chat young idily is talking bout you

OpenStudy (ny,ny):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u tyiping?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah you look at the difference, and difference of the difference for your example -1,2,7,14,23 the difference between first and second term is 3 and second third is 4 and third fourth is 7 and fourth and fifth is 9 it doesn't look linear, meaning not increasing by a multiple. so you guess a geometric progression next, meaning a square or cube.

ok thanks
